The author of the exhibition - Jiri Patek - explains: Although amateur photography, and the staged photography of the 1970s which was part of it, was more than fruitful and the amateur movement in the former Czechoslovakia was an activity promoted by the state, its imprint in the history of photography was virtually invisible and its representation in the collections was minimal or non-existent. The aim of the project, one of the outputs of which is the Sweet Fixations exhibition, was to search for the causes of this paradox.
